Client Acquisition Cost Calculator
Make it Make Sense
**This calculator is for estimates only. Results depend on accurate inputs and consistent time periods.
This tool is not financial or accounting advice but it IS a great tool to help you decide if ads will be profitable for you.
Your Time Period
This calculator works on whatever time period you choose, as long as all inputs use the same period.
The output is per customer acquired during that period.
The correct way to think about it
CAC is always calculated as:
Total acquisition costs for a period ÷ New customers acquired in that same period
That period can be:
-
Monthly
-
Quarterly
-
Annual
-
Campaign-specific
-
Launch-specific
The calculator does not assume annual costs or per-sale costs. It assumes period-based costs divided by customers acquired in that period.
Examples
Monthly CAC example
If you enter:
-
$5,000 in total marketing and sales costs for May
-
25 new customers acquired in May
Your CAC output is:
-
$200 per customer acquired in May
This is not annualized and not per transaction. It is per customer acquired during that month.
Annual CAC example
If you enter:
-
$60,000 in total marketing and sales costs for the year
-
300 new customers acquired in that year
Your CAC output is:
-
$200 per customer acquired annually
Same math. Different period.
Campaign-specific CAC example
If you enter:
-
$8,000 spent on a specific campaign
-
40 new customers from that campaign
Your CAC output is:
-
$200 per customer from that campaign
