We don’t just help businesses grow, we help legacies expand. Because for us, your victories become our legacy.
When we launched Rakos Media Group, it wasn’t just a business move, it was a way to honor the bloodlines, values, and grit that brought us here.
My grandmother, Lena Rome, was a dog groomer, an entrepreneur long before it was trendy. Her parents were immigrants, and she built her business in an era when it was taboo for women to even work outside the home. For 45 years, she stood as a pillar in her community. She was more than a businesswoman, she was a force.
In the days of our grandparents, there was no social media or websites. You didn’t grow by going viral, you grew by being exceptional. You became known because you were outstanding at what you did, and people talked about it. That’s how legacies were built, through service, integrity, and word of mouth. Exceptionalism runs deep in our bloodline. My grandmother used to tell me, "Whatever you do, be the best."
On the other side of our story, my in-laws immigrated from Greece with nothing but their ambition. They built a multi-generational business from the ground up, one that my father-in-law, Chris Churakos (aka Big Chris), still runs today. It was Big Chris who gave me my first shot at entrepreneurship. I started in the restaurant business under his wing, and that’s where I learned the rhythm of service, the weight of leadership, and the truth that people always come first.
The restaurant business also taught both Chris and me how to juggle multiple priorities and thrive under pressure. In the early days, I wasn’t always good at it, but it was the failures in those high-pressure moments that taught me the most. Those lessons became the backbone of how we work today, with resilience, adaptability, and grace under fire.
Chris, my partner, co-founder, and son, worked for both myself and his father through high school and college. He was raised by entrepreneurs. He knows the grind. He watched it. He lived it. And today, he carries forward our legacy, not just in how he runs a business, but in how he serves people. His heart, like ours, is rooted in care.
The entrepreneurial spark doesn’t stop with us. Chris’s sister, Taylor Slango, my daughter, is a successful online coach and course creator who launched her business in 2017 and scaled to seven figures within a few years. It’s not just something we do, it’s in our bloodline.
I’m proud of all my children. Every single one of them has the entrepreneurial bug in them. Even my youngest, still in high school, is already planning her move. It’s who we are.
At Rakos, this legacy isn’t just our backstory, it’s our foundation. It’s why we don’t take shortcuts. It’s why we see our clients as partners, not transactions. And it’s why we show up with strategy, soul, and the same relentless commitment our family taught us.
